Bike of the day: BMW R1150GS Adventure

Why it’s MCN’s pick:

In this week’s MCN we are celebrating the rise of the adventure bike, so if you are considering a switch from 17-inch wheels to a 19-inch (or even bigger) front, why not start with the most recognisable adventure machine – the BMW R1150GS Adventure.

This world-conquering behemoth uses the older-generation air-cooled boxer twin, so it’s a bit rougher than the updated air-cooled R1200 or the partially water-cooled R1200, but that’s all part of its charm.

  • BMW considering a bike share scheme
  • Bike of the day: Husqvarna Nuda 900
  • Spy shots: New BMW R1200RT on the way
  • Huskies set to arrive this weekend

The Adventure model adds a simply enormous 30-litre tank, which although it can make the bike a bit cumbersome and top heavy at slow speed, means you seldom need to stop to refill during your weekly commute/world adventure…
